ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

The vision of Morris Academy for Collaborative Studies (MACS) is: Our students learn by doing. We put students first as they collaborate in teams to take charge of their learning and develop into creative problem solvers who will lead by example and thrive in college, career, and community endeavors.

One of the most important parts of our school is our focus on projects-based learning.  In all grades and content areas, students work together to create, design, grow, build and learn, and then present their best work in our Roundtable Celebration twice a year.  At this celebration, students present their work to teachers, parents, staff members and invited guests from the community, and a number of students win awards like gift cards or the grand-prize laptop computer for having the best projects!

Equally important is our commitment to putting students first, from rigorous, engaging student-centered instruction in the classrooms to limitless opportunities to contribute ideas, make suggestions, and ask for things they'd like to see at MACS.

MACS has been selected to join the Community Schools movement! As one of the 45 schools chosen to participate in this visionary effort, MACS, in partnership with Center for Supportive Schools (http://supportiveschools.org/), is excited to be on the path to soon offer new services and supports to more effectively serve the whole needs of our students and families. Services may include: financial education, computer training, employment support, sports and arts education and additional mental health services, to name a few.   This is a COMMUNITY affair, and we’d love to hear from YOU!
